Back to The Snug

Remembering Rebecca

Having set up The Snug with Gemma in 2022, Rebecca was fulfilling her ambition to positively impact young people outside of the classroom.

Gemma shared Rebecca’s mission wholeheartedly, but Gemma will admit that it was Rebecca’s unwavering drive and commitment to fighting for these young people that turned The Snug from the kernel of an idea, to a physical, much-loved, snug-of-a-space.

Rebecca and Gemma were united by their love of colour, dislike of admin and dogged desire to share The Snug with as many families as possible!

And they were doing it! Their warm feedback from families was testament to how vital The Snug had become, and word was spreading.

In 2024, Rebecca learned that the illness that she’d already fought off once in her life had returned, and we’re very sad to say that Rebecca passed away in July 2024.

Her legacy lives on in every young person she positively impacted, and a Trust has been set up in her name.

Rebecca, in her own words:

“I have worked with children and young people for over 20 years. After a degree in Modern Foreign Languages I trained to be a teacher and it was during this time that I began to practise Yoga. With an increase of social and emotional needs arising in the classroom, I trained as a yoga teacher for children with the hope of bringing these skills to the classroom environment.

My approach is a non-judgemental, safe, embodied therapy which helps regulate and soothe, bringing the physical and emotional body into balance.

A session may include physical postures, breath work, mindfulness meditation and relaxation but not all of these are always present.

Young people are able to explore their embodied experience, feeling into their body and their emotions.”
